About

It got harder to show up online, and harder to tell why.

AI gave customers a new way to ask and filled the web with content faster than anyone can sort it. Most businesses can feel the result — fewer clicks, harder to rank — without much sense of what’s behind it. We built DepthFinder for them.

Our purpose

Why we built it

Most small businesses have a website somebody else built, and show up in thousands of searches a month they’ve never seen. Almost none of them could tell you which of those searches matter, or what to do about the ones that do.

The data exists. Google Search Console is free and it’s accurate, but it’s thousands of rows of search terms and averages, and it doesn’t tell you what any of it means. Working out whether customers can find you, and where you’re losing them, is left entirely to you.

The AI shift made that question harder to answer and more urgent at the same time. Your business is either named in an AI answer or it isn’t, and none of the reports you already have can see it happening.

So we built what was missing: your own search data and your standing in AI answers, measured on the same topics, with the interpretation done for you.

Our approach

What we believe

01

You shouldn’t need to speak SEO

The people who look after a small business website usually look after five other things too. Nothing here assumes you’ve studied search, and where a technical term is unavoidable, it’s defined where you meet it.

02

One picture, not three

How you’re doing in Google, what your market is searching for, and whether AI assistants name your business — these get treated as three separate problems. They’re one. We measure them together, on the same topics, so you can see the whole thing at once.

03

Deciding what matters is our job

You could measure endlessly — there’s always another metric to chase. Working out which of it changes your outcome is the difficult part, and that’s what we’ve taken on.

04

Recommendations, with the reasoning behind them

Every suggestion comes with the searches and numbers behind it, so you can see how we got there. If something doesn’t fit what you know about your business, you’ll be able to tell.

Our team

Who you’ll be talking to

Adam Day
Founder · Toronto, Canada

DepthFinder came out of running a business and hitting the same problem repeatedly: traffic moving with no way to tell what was behind it — changes on the site, changes at Google, or customers asking an AI instead of searching. The information to answer that existed, but it just wasn’t in a usable form.

Founded in 2026. Adam is an engineer who has spent the last decade working in AI; DepthFinder is his third company, and he was previously a cofounder of Mayday, an AI calendar product acquired by Apple.

Access is invitation-based for now and onboarding is hands-on, which means the person building the product is the person answering your email.
